Delete your account.

This page describes how to delete your account on PestFree NZ, a platform for safe, legal pest control on private land in New Zealand. Operated by PestFree NZ Ltd.

Deleting your account from inside the app

If you can sign in, this is the fastest path:

   Sign in to PestFree NZ

   Go to the app and sign in with your email and password.

   Open your profile

   Tap the menu, then select Profile or your name.

   Edit profile

   Tap Edit Profile to open your profile settings.

   Scroll to Delete account

   Find the Delete account section near the bottom of the page.

   Confirm deletion

   Enter your password, type DELETE in the confirmation field, and submit. Your account and all associated data are queued for permanent removal immediately.

If you can't sign in

If you've lost access to your account (forgotten password, lost email access, or any other reason), email us and we'll verify your identity and process the deletion manually.

What gets deleted

When you delete your account, the following data is permanently removed within 30 days:

• Your account credentials (email, password hash)
• Your profile information (name, bio, region, town, photo)
• Phone number, contact details, and any encrypted personal info
• Hunter-specific data: firearms licence, NZDA membership, first aid certification, equipment details, service regions
• Landowner-specific data: property descriptions, land story
• Knowledge Hub posts, comments, and likes you authored
• Pest Board posts you created
• Photos you uploaded (kill evidence, profile pictures, inspection photos, hub photos)
• Push notification tokens
• Trust scores, badges, and reviews you have given

What we retain, and why

A small amount of data is retained after account deletion for legal, safety, and integrity reasons:

• Signed Access Agreements: These are legal documents between you and the other party. We retain them for 7 years to comply with New Zealand record-keeping requirements and to protect both parties in the event of a dispute. Personal identifiers in old agreements may be redacted to a pseudonymous reference where possible.
• Audit logs: Anonymised security and audit logs (sign-ins, agreement executions, breach events) are retained for 12 months for security investigation purposes. These are pseudonymised on deletion so they no longer identify you.
• Aggregate analytics: Anonymous usage statistics that no longer identify you (page views, feature usage counts) may be retained indefinitely as aggregate metrics.
• Backup copies: Routine encrypted database backups are retained for up to 30 days. Your data will be removed from backups as they roll over in the normal backup lifecycle.
