Protecting Aotearoa.

Every session, every outcome, every hectare. Real data from real hunters and landowners working together to protect New Zealand's native ecosystems.

Species Data

Every pest counted.

From possums to stoats to rats, every confirmed outcome is recorded and attributed. Transparent data that shows the real impact of community-driven pest control across Aotearoa.

Regional Impact

Nationwide reach.

From Northland to Southland, hunters and landowners across Aotearoa are making a measurable difference. Each circle on the map represents confirmed pest control outcomes in that region.

Data Methodology

How every number on this page gets here.

Conservation reporting only matters if it's honest. Here is the exact chain of custody for every kill that counts toward the stats above — from a landowner's signature to an admin-approved row in the public total. No step is skipped, no number is extrapolated.

Step 1

Signed access agreement

Every hunt begins with a written Property Access Agreement between the landowner and the hunter, signed by both parties. No agreement, no session, no counted outcome.

Step 2

Check-in starts a session

The hunter checks in to start an active hunt session. The session is tied to one specific agreement, one property, one hunter, and a defined time window.

Step 3

Outcomes logged on-site

Kills are logged during the active session — species, count, short description. The session must be ACTIVE, OVERDUE, or COMPLETED; historical fabrications are rejected by the API.

Step 4

Photo evidence (private)

Up to five photos per outcome. GPS and device metadata are stripped on upload so the landowner's coordinates never leak. Photos live in a private bucket — only agreement parties and admins can view them, and only through short-lived signed URLs.

Step 5

Admin review

PestFree NZ admins can flag and remove any outcome. Flagged outcomes have their isCounted flag set to false and are excluded from every public stat on this page — immediately and permanently.

Step 6

Aggregates are simple sums

The numbers on this page are plain SUMs of admin-approved outcomes — no modelling, no extrapolation, no estimates. What you see is the literal count of what was logged, photographed, and reviewed.

What we do not count

  • Kills claimed without a corresponding active hunt session
  • Outcomes from agreements that were revoked or never fully executed
  • Records flagged or removed by admin review
  • Any hunt activity on properties outside the signed agreement's scope
Monthly Trends

Momentum building.

Track the growing impact month by month. The green area shows pests eliminated, and the mint line tracks completed hunt sessions. Every data point represents real work on real land.

Live Activity
